the meet and greet service came and picked us up from the train station and took us all to not only our residences but to our rooms! they were so great.
i have to say though, that after so much moving about and as hectic as those two suitcases and 2 smaller bags were to lug around, as soon as they were dropped in the spot that they were going to be for a while, homesickness started to settle in. especially since i wasn't getting internet...there was very little connection to the outside world. i met up with some of the eap friends, did some grocery shopping, and went out with my flatmates, talked to some friends and it helped a lot. it's still all really new but it's definitely a positive thing...it's really different here but i love being in this big city that has great night life yet still the community support that davis has of being a college town [city more like].
two little things that made me happy:
getting asked directions multiple times by british people!
spending the most money on one item at ikea on a coffee press....worth ever pence.
