where to begin, where to begin. i decided i'm not waiting this long to write again....haha. there's too much to be said to write as often as i delete emails.
modules, or, classes are going very well. design here is creativity and ideas-based. they really emphasize the strenth of good ideas and a new way of thinking then they teach you how to design whatever that may be. so technical skill comes second to creativity which i like a lot. we spend a lot of time in small or large groups trying to get inspired, throwing out ideas, and having discussions. it feels a lot like what i want to do in the professional world.
there is a very important loophole. at this place called wrapid in the student union [which, mind you, has about two bars and three dance clubs with convenience stores and a student store that sell basically anything, including alcohol. and don't forget cadbury chocolate. two for 65p. amazing. at wrapid you get a free coffee with you wrap and you can refill it for free. christine, lauren and i also spotted a wrapid in the city centre. the plan is this: get a coffee, walk with it, refill it downtown while shopping and then again later that day before class, then again for the walk home. safe cup. rise. and repeat. genius i say. all for the love and glory that is coffee.
it is true what they say, leeds has an impressive music scene. lauren, my flatmate phuong and i went to see Stars play at this small and personable music venue called the Brundenell Social Club in Hyde Park. they were incredible with amazing lyrics and beats complete with glowing flowers over the band's instruments. who could ask for more?! other than to ask the people standing in front of us to bow their heads haha. another thing we noticed too is that there were a huge gathering of men at the stars concert! if anything they were the most enthused! it was great to see. my other experience with the music scene hails from the days of parachute pants and military hair cuts. vanilla ice, though a bit less flamboyant, played at this club called gatecrashers and yes, he did play ice ice baby. it was so great, unlike vanilla ice's stage demeanor...he still acts 19.
Rachel, Lauren, Christine and I have declared that we are 4 women from Snog in the City. We meet up quite often for drinks or coffee to discuss the happenings of Leeds and it's always a great time! Aiden, Big, Steve, Harry? We had a girls night in last night complete with tv, making pizza, girly magazines [but british so they're well dressed], sweets, youtube, and more of our talks.
We are headed off to London tomorrow morning! The first weekend trip of hopefully many. Thrift store shopping and more walking is in order. Kyle got me "City Walks: London" for my birthday and that will be so great to have!
Is it weird that when i see a double decker bus in London it will remind me of Davis? and the other way around? haha
cheers!
